Poem 3rd John

In the realm of truth and love, we take our stand,

A tale unfolds from the beloved Gaius' land.

An elder's joy, his children walk in light,

In the embrace of truth, they find their might.

A faithful friend, Gaius, so sincere,

In truth and love, he holds dear.

His righteousness, it shines so bright,

In the Lord's path, he finds delight.

His deeds, they speak, they sing his fame,

In the church of God, they praise his name.

Strangers become friends, by his good grace,

In his heart, they find a warm embrace.

In the face of evil, he stands tall,

Against Diotrephes, he wouldn't fall.

Who loved himself more than the divine,

In his heart, the light did not shine.

But fear not, for God sees it all,

Arrogance always precedes a fall.

So follow not the evil, but the good,

As the scriptures have always understood.

Demetrius, a name well-spoken,

His good report, a symbol, a token.

Of truth and faith, in him they trust,

His life, a testament to the just.

Though I have much to write and much to say,

I hope to meet you when I travel that way.

Face to face, Not pen and ink,

In Friendship and love, we live I think.
