The Skill of Emotional Compartments

Imagine you can separate your feelings into different boxes. The skill is to simply keep different emotions in different boxes and never mix them. The 5-Minute Rule: Don't suppress. Let it out, but let it out fast. Once you've let it out, you're done. Close the lid on that box and open the next with a neutral emotion. Next moment, you can happily discuss where to have dinner or have fun with your kids, regardless of an earlier argument.   Emotional Compartmentalization: The Skill of Emotional Boxes Everyone experiences anger, sadness, disappointment, and frustration. When these emotions are poorly managed, they can damage relationships, derail projects, and in extreme cases, lead to serious personal consequences. Emotional compartmentalization is a practical skill that helps you manage these feelings effectively. Imagine your emotions as separate rooms. Each feeling belongs in its own space, and the goal is simple: don’t mix them. Keep each emotion contained within its designated box. For instance, you might feel intense frustration at work. But once you step away from that situation, you close that box. When you move on to another task or interact with someone else, you return to a neutral emotional state. Or consider parenting: if one child upsets you, that frustration stays in that box. You don’t carry it into your interactions with your other children. Each new “box” begins with neutrality. This doesn’t mean suppressing your emotions—suppression is unhealthy. Instead, allow yourself to feel and express emotions, but do so quickly and intentionally. A helpful approach is the “5-minute rule.” Don’t hold onto negative emotions longer than necessary. You don’t need a timer—just recognize when you’ve processed and expressed the feeling, and then let it go. Close the box. The key idea is this: your emotional response should end with the event that triggered it. With practice, you’ll become faster at shifting your emotional state. More importantly, you’ll stop carrying emotions from one situation into another. This skill can help you recover from setbacks and maintain a more positive, balanced mindset. If you’re in a relationship, share this approach with your partner. When both people practice it, it can strengthen communication and reduce lingering tension. You may disagree or argue, but those emotions should stay within that moment. Soon after, you can move forward—whether that’s deciding on dinner or enjoying time together as a family.

The fact that Abraham's forefathers were idolaters is mentioned in Joshua 24:2 (KJV). It says, "And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served other gods." This verse indicates that before God called Abraham, his family, including his father Terah, worshipped other gods, which would be considered idolatry 

In the grand narrative of the King James Version Bible, 
there are fascinating intersections of faith, culture, and history.
 One such intersection is the possibility that Abraham, the patriarch of faith,
 walked and talked with the sons of Noah, and that his father, Terah, was an idolater.
 Even more startling is the possibility that Noah's sons might have become idolaters.

Abraham, originally Abram, was born in the city of Ur in Mesopotamia (Genesis 11:27-28).
 His father, Terah, was an idolater (Joshua 24:2), 
a fact that presents a stark contrast to Abraham's profound faith in God, YHWH. 
The Bible doesn't explicitly state that Abraham interacted with Noah's sons,
 but it's certainly within the realm of possibility. Considering the ages of Shem,
 Noah's son, and Abraham, they did coexist for a period of time, as recorded in Genesis
The Bible tells us that after the flood, Noah's sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth,
 were tasked with repopulating the earth (Genesis 9:18-19). 
While Noah had been a righteous man, found favor in God's eyes and was saved from the flood (Genesis 6:8-9),
 his sons might not have maintained that righteousness. 

The Bible does hint at this when Ham, one of Noah's sons, disrespected his father (Genesis 9:20-27),
 an act which led Noah to curse Ham's son Canaan.
These stories present a dynamic picture of faith and the struggle against idolatry.
 They remind us that faith is not simply inherited, but a personal journey. Abraham, 
despite his father's idolatry, found his way to a profound faith in God. He believed in the Lord 
and it was accounted to him for righteousness (Genesis 15:6). 
Noah's sons, on the other hand, may have faltered in their righteousness.

In the end, these stories underscore the importance of personal faith, 
the necessity of repentance, and the power of God's grace. They encourage us to turn away from sin,
 acknowledge our need for forgiveness, and publicly declare our belief in Jesus,
 as emphasized in Acts 16:31, Romans 10:9, and John 3:

They anticipated the arrival of the Messiah, a savior who would deliver them from their suffering and establish a reign of righteousness on earth.

However, when Jesus of Nazareth stepped into the scene, many Jews failed to recognize him as the awaited Messiah.

They struggled to reconcile their preconceived notions about the Messiah with the humble, compassionate, and revolutionary figure of Jesus.

One of the main reasons why many first-century Jews did not understand Jesus as the Christ was the nature of his ministry.

The Jewish people were expecting a political leader, a triumphant King who would overthrow the Roman oppressors.

However, Jesus was not a political revolutionary. He was a teacher, a healer, and a preacher of love and forgiveness. He came to serve, not to be served (Matthew 20:28).

Jesus' teachings also challenged the religious authorities of his time. He criticized the Pharisees for their hypocrisy and questioned the Sadducees about their understanding of the Scriptures.

His teachings were often revolutionary and contradicted the established norms. Jesus proclaimed that the Kingdom of God was accessible to all people, not just the religious elite. This radical inclusivity was difficult for many first-century Jews to accept.

Another factor was Jesus' claim to divinity. The Jewish faith is strictly monotheistic, and the claim that Jesus was the Son of God was considered blasphemous. In John 10:33,

the Jews accuse Jesus of blasphemy because "you, being a man, make yourself God." This fundamental misunderstanding prevented many from accepting Jesus as the Messiah.

Despite these obstacles, some Jews did recognize Jesus as the Messiah. They saw in his miracles, teachings, and resurrection, the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies.

These Jews became the first Christians, spreading the good news of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth.

In conclusion, the first-century Jews' inability to understand Jesus as the Christ stemmed from a combination of political expectations, religious misunderstandings, and a lack of spiritual insight.

This serves as a reminder for us to approach the Word of God with an open heart and mind, ready to accept God's truth as it is, not as we want it to be.

We are reminded in Acts 16:31, "And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved

As a Christian, I find it essential to remind us all that our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ calls for unquestioning obedience. Often, we may not understand God’s plan for us, but remember that He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the Creator of all things. As it is written in Genesis 1:1 of the King James Version (KJV) Bible, "In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth." In our journey to salvation, we may encounter difficult moments and confusing situations where we're unsure why God is leading us down a particular path. However, it is during these moments that our faith is being tested. We must trust that He who is omniscient, omnipotent, and eternal knows what is best for us, even when we do not understand it. In Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV), we are reminded, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." This verse emphasizes the importance of trusting in God's wisdom and guidance rather than our limited human understanding. Remember, God’s ways are not our ways. As Isaiah 55:8-9 (KJV) says, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts". God has made a covenant with His people, and we are to honor Him by following His directions, regardless of our understanding. He often uses our trials and tribulations to strengthen our faith in Him. God’s commandments are not arbitrary rules but are rooted in His love for us, His desire to protect us, and His plan to give us a future filled with hope. Even when we do not fully understand His instructions, it is our duty and privilege as followers of Christ to obey. As we journey through life, let us remember that obedience to God is an expression of our love for Him. As it is written in John 14:15 (KJV), "If ye love me, keep my commandments." In Christianity, God is often described with three main "omni" attributes,
which are found throughout the King James Version (KJV) Bible:

Omniscient: This means that God is all-knowing. He comprehends all things,
and nothing is hidden from His understanding or knowledge.
This is explained in Psalm 147:5, "Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite."
Omnipotent: This states that God is all-powerful. There is nothing that is beyond His ability or strength. 
Revelation 19:6 affirms this, "And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude,
and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth."
Omnipresent: This states that God is always present everywhere at all times.
There is no location or time where He is not present.
As stated in Psalm 139:7-10, "Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me."

These characteristics of God emphasize His unlimited power, knowledge, and presence,
illustrating His divine nature and sovereignty.

It took me a long time to get this. My wife said she was taught this even as a small child.

In the book of Colossians, chapter 1, verse 17
It reads: "And he is before all things, and by him all things consist."
This verse is referring to Jesus Christ, describing Him as the sustainer of all things.
He maintains the universe, and without Him, everything would fall apart.
His power and divinity are so immense that every element of the universe is held together by Him. 
God's presence permeates creation.
His presence, power, and influence extend to every part of the universe in every atom.

And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.

So as I go I would like to leave you with something to think about.

1) ?Every breath you take. God is present in the atoms of the air you breath.
2) Every step you take. God is present in the ground beneath your feet and
       if he removes his presence it will fall apart or disintegrate.
3) Every bite of food you eat. God is present in each and every bite.
     as it is digested in your body he is still there.
4) Every friend you look at. God is present in each and every one.
5) Every one that you see as an enemy or you think you dislike. God is present in each and every one.  
6) Everything that is beautiful. God is present . 
7) Everything that is or was or will be. God is present . 

This understanding makes Psalm 139 beautiful.

Knowing that He was present taking the Atoms of the food , water and air that our mothers consumed
while they carried us in their womb and carefully knit them together to form you and me.

In the realm where true Life began,

Where God's pure light was shown to man,

1st John, a tale of love and time,

In wisdom's verses, truth does rhyme.

In the beginning, the Word was there,

A life, a light, beyond compare,

Echoed in 1st John's opening line,

In the darkness, God's love does shine.

Walking in light, no shadows cast,

In His righteousness, we are steadfast,

Christ's blood cleanses, pure and fine,

In His truth, our Souls a lifeline.

Love not the world, nor its desire,

For all unholy things do retire,

Let His commandments shape your mind,

In His path, your peace you find.

Deceptions many, will come and go,

But in Christ's spirit, we will grow,

Known by the love that we assign,

In His name, our lives align.

God is love, this truth we know,

And in us, that love should show,

In each act of love, His light is shown,

In our hearts, His love is known.

Of victory in faith, John did tell,

Overcoming the world, freed from hell,

In Christ's love, we do intertwine,

In His victory, we join the divine.

Their teachings, Peter warns, beware.

For truth is pure, God's word is clear,

And those who twist it, we must fear.

The heavens and earth, by God's own word,

A testament to a promise all heard.

The Lord's return, though it may tarry,

His faithful flock, The groom will Marry.

Remember, the Lord His promises not slow,

His time is not ours, we must surely know.

A thousand years is like a day,

In the eternal God's own way.

YHWH Jehovah patience means salvation, true,

For sinners and saints, for me and for you.

And so, we strive to live in peace,

Where love and faith will never cease.

In knowledge and grace, we should grow,

Living God's truth, wherever we go.

To Him be glory, both now and forever,

In His love, we are bound together.

Poem 1st Peter Anthem of Victory

 

In a land far off, Peter's words took flight,

To God's chosen people, a beacon of light.

Exiles scattered far and wide,

In the Lord's mercy, they confide.

Born anew, not of perishable seed,

But imperishable, by God's decree.

A living stone, rejected by man,

Chosen by God, part of His plan.

Called out of darkness, into His light,

Living for righteousness, in God's sight.

With love sincere, and hearts made pure,

In God's eternal Word, they are secure.

Through trials and tests, faith is refined,

More precious than gold, they would find.

Rejoice, though now for a little while,

Suffering may cause a grievous trial.

Clothe yourselves in humility's shroud,

For "God opposes the proud."

Cast all your anxiety on Him,

His love for you is never dim.

Even when suffering for what is right,

Christ's example is our guiding light.

For on the cross, our sins He bore,

So we might live forevermore.

Be vigilant, be watchful, be sober-minded,

By the devil's schemes, be not blinded.

After suffering, God will restore,

In His eternal glory, forevermore.

Peter's words, a guiding light,

In our faith's enduring fight.

The grace of Christ, let it be,

The anthem of our victory.

Poem James

 

In the spirit of faith and wisdom, a tale unfolds,

Inspired by the Book of James, as the scripture holds.

A servant of God and the Christ Lord Jesus,

James writes to the twelve tribes, in our trials he sees us.

Consider it joy when you face troubles of every kind,

Wisdom will come to those with an open mind.

If any of you lack wisdom, ask God, who gives all,

But ask without doubt, those who doubt will fall.

The rich should take pride in their low position,

For like wild flowers, they'll fade in transition.

Blessed are those who persevere under trial,

For the gift they shall receive ,is worth every mile.

Do not be deceived, James writes with a plea,

Every good gift is from above, for you and me.

Be quick to listen, slow to speak, even more slow to wrath,

For the anger of man does not bring righteousness on his path.

Be doers of the word, not just hearers in deceit,

For faith without works is dead, incomplete.

To control the tongue is a task so grand,

A small part, yet it boasts great things on command.

Wisdom from above is pure and peace-loving,

Full of mercy, bearing good fruit, and never shoving.

What causes fights and quarrels among you?

Is it not your desires that wage war, breaking through?

Humility before God will lift you high,

Resist the devil, and he will fly.

The prayer of the righteous avails much indeed,

Like Elijah, whose prayers stopped rain, then made it proceed.

My brethren, if anyone wanders from truth and someone brings him back,

Know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death, that's a fact.

POEM Hebrews

In the shadow of the Old Testament's reign,

Hebrews tells a tale of faith unchained.

A story of a High Priest, pure and divine,

Jesus, the Son of God, in glory shines.

From Moses to angels, He stands above all,

Answering to those who heed His call.

Greater than prophets, more than burnt offerings,

In Jesus we find a new covenant springs.

Our sins purged, sat down on the right,

Of Majesty on high, in heavenly sight.

Hebrews tells of faith, the assurance so deep,

Of things hoped for, promises God keeps.

Abel, Enoch, Noah, men of old,

In faith, they stood brave and bold.

Abraham and Sarah, their faith defined,

In the promise of God, their hopes aligned.

The author the finisher of our faith at such a cost,

Who for Grace, embraced death, endured the cross

Almighty Jehovah his only son he sent

Jesus nailed to the wood his body bent

Despising the shame, now sits on the throne,

Our High Priest forever, our sins He atones.

With faith, let us run this race we set out on,

Looking unto Jesus, our compass pointing home.

For in Him, we find a better testament,

Hebrews tells this truth, in God's love, it's evident.

In the city of Colossae, under a Grecian sun,

There lived a man named Philemon, a faithful Christian one.

He owned a slave named Onesimus, who from his side did flee,

But God had plans in motion, a divine decree.

Onesimus found Paul, in a Roman prison cell,

He heard the Gospel truth and in his heart, it fell.

From a runaway slave, to a servant of Christ,

A transformation of spirit, a heavenly heist.

Paul, with quill in hand, penned a letter so profound,

To Philemon, his brother, where Christian love is found.

Receive Onesimus, not as a slave, but more,

A brother in Christ, whom both of us adore.

Though he once was useless, now he's beneficial,

In the body of Christ, his role is official.

If he has wronged you, or owes you any debt,

Charge it to my account, it's a promise, not a threat.

We're bound by love, in Christ, not by the law,

In forgiveness and grace, a truth without a flaw.

So welcome him, as you would welcome me,

In Christ, we are all free, a blessed mystery.

This story of Philemon, in the Bible's sacred page,

Speaks of faith, love, and the Apostle's sage.

Redemption and forgiveness, in Christ's love we bathe,

For in Jesus, we're no longer master or slave.

In God’s holy word, is wisdom’s cure.

Unto Timothy, a beloved son,

Paul's race near end, Timothy's just begun.

Stir up the gift, let no spirit fear,

God's not given us, but power is near.

Share in suffering, as a good soldier,

In this world of sin, growing ever colder.

The word of God, it's not bound or chained,

In life or death, Christ's love remained.

Hold fast the scroll, of sound words taught,

In faith and love, here you've been brought.

Guard the good, entrusted to your care,

With Holy Spirit, dwelling there.

In the last days, perilous times shall come,

Men loving self, to God’s will, they’re numb.

Having a form of godliness, but denying its power,

From such turn away, in the faithful hour.

All scripture's inspired, by God it is,

For teaching, correcting, making us His.

That the man of God, may be equipped,

For every good work, and on every trip.

Preach the word, be ready in and out of season,

Reprove, and rebuke, with all patience and reason.

For a time is coming, when truth they will not endure,

But their own desires, they will secure.

Yet, I am not ashamed, for I know in who I have believed,

And I know, that he was able to give what I have received.

To him be the glory, forever and ever, Amen,

There’s a special kind of pain that can accompany coming to know the Lord—especially when you do so after the loss of loved ones who didn’t get the same opportunity,

or who passed before your faith became real. It’s a quiet, complex grief. It’s not just mourning their absence; it’s mourning the thought that they may not have had what you now hold so dearly: the hope, peace, and promise of eternal life in Christ.

This is often called spiritual survivor’s guilt.

What Is Spiritual Survivor’s Guilt?

Survivor’s guilt in the faith journey feels like this:

• Why did I come to know Jesus after they were already gone?

• Why couldn’t I have shared the gospel with them?

• Did I fail them?

• Are they okay?

These questions can torment a believer who genuinely loves God and now understands the eternal weight of salvation.

The realization of grace can sometimes bring not just joy but sorrow—because we realize just how much we wish others had it too.

You're Not Alone in This Feeling

If you feel this way, you are not alone. Many believers wrestle with the tension between the joy of being found and the sorrow of those who, in our view, may not have been.

Scripture is filled with people who carried sorrow for their people:

• Paul said in Romans 9:2-3, “I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. For I could wish that I myself were cursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my people...”

• Jesus Himself wept over Jerusalem, knowing many would not receive Him (Luke 19:41-44).

Grief over others’ spiritual condition is part of loving deeply.

What Can We Do with This Pain?

Here are a few truths and encouragements if you’re carrying this burden:

1. You Are Not Their Savior—God Is

As much as we wish we could rewrite the past, only God knows the heart. We don’t know what someone’s final moments looked like.

God’s mercy is greater than we can understand. We entrust them to a God who is just and merciful.

2. Let the Pain Produce Compassion, Not Despair

Let your sorrow turn into urgency—for others still living. Use this experience to deepen your love, your boldness, and your gentleness in sharing the good news.

3. Trust in God's Sovereignty

God’s timing is not random. You came to Him when you did for a reason. That may be part of someone else’s rescue story.

It may be that the pain you carry now will bring life to others later.

4. Remember: Grace Is Still Grace

None of us earn salvation. It is a gift, not a reward. Even if you had found Christ earlier,

it doesn’t guarantee others would have received Him. God honors our efforts, but He is the one who draws hearts.

A Prayer for Those Who Mourn Spiritually

“Lord, I don’t understand why I came to know You after they were gone.

But I trust that You are good, just, and merciful. I release my guilt, because You did not give me salvation to carry shame,

but to bring life.

Help me honor their memory by living boldly for You and loving others with urgency and compassion.”

Final Thought: You Were Found—Now Shine

The enemy would love for your newfound faith to be drowned in guilt.

But Jesus came to set you free—not just from sin, but also from shame. Let your life now be a testimony.

Let your love honor those you’ve lost. And let your light point others to the hope that is still available—because it’s not too late for them.

God wastes nothing—not even our regrets.

If this touched something in you, you’re not alone. And more importantly, you’re not beyond comfort. God is with you.

Even in the sorrow. Even in the wondering. Even in the survivor’s guilt. And He has more for you still.

From Paul, Silas, and Timothy, a message to send.

They praised the Church, for their love had grown,

In the midst of trials, God's grace was shown.

Stand firm, they urged, in faith so pure,

In Christ's teachings, you'll find the cure.

Let not the lawless one, lead you astray,

For the Lord Jesus ,will sweep him away.

But until then, they surely mustn't tire,

For each good deed, the Lord does admire.

Truly the name of Jesus, they did exalt,

To follow the teachings the apostles taught,

For a life lived in idleness, brings no gain,

But a life in Christ, breaks every chain.

Their words spoke of a coming day,

When the Lord would arrive in a brilliant array.

So let Thessalonians be our guide,

In Christ's love, may we confide,

Till the day of His glorious return,

May for His truth, our hearts ever yearn.

In Thessalonica's ancient land,
Apostle Paul took a stand,
His words in First Thessalonians,
guide us through life's many bends.
The coming of the Lord he told,
in verses clear and bold,
A hope for every faithful heart,
in Christ, we're in His fold.
In Chapter one, we see the call,
a life of faith for all,
Turned from idols to serve the living God,
echoing salvation's call.
Chapter two, pure and just, Paul's ministry,
in God we trust,
He labored night and day, preaching the gospel,
as he must.
In Chapter three, Paul's concern, for their faith,
he yearned,
Strengthened by Timothy's report, their love for God,
they returned.
Chapter four, a life that's pleasing,
in every season,
A call to sanctity and love, in Christ,
we find our reason.
Chapter five, the day of the Lord,
like a thief ignored,
But we are children of the light, by faith,
we are restored.
Comfort one another, he implores,
with words of truth and love,
As we wait for Jesus' return,
from heavenly realms above.
In Thessalonica's ancient lore,
Paul's words forever soar,
In First Thessalonians we find,
Christ's love forevermore.

A letter from Paul, filled with wisdom and grace.

To the church in Colossae, he sends his greetings,

His words of instruction, each one worth repeating.

With Christ as the head, the body and bride are we,

United in love, in Him, we are free.

He is the truth of God, the invisible seen,

through Him, all things were created, on Him, we lean.

He holds all things together, from beginning, to end,

Our Savior, Redeemer, that took away our sin.

Through His blood on the cross, we find our peace,

Our sins are forgiven, our guilt released.

We once were estranged, as if hidden in weeds,

But Christ reconciled us, saved us from our evil deeds.

Presenting us holy, without blemish or blame,

as we continue in faith, and cherish His name.

So let His word dwell in you, richly, with thanks,

Sing spiritual songs, join the heavenly ranks.

Whatever you do, in word or in deed,

Do all good things to His will, pay heed.

Stand firm in His love, let your hearts be encouraged,

In all wisdom and understanding, be nourished.

For it's in Christ, all God's treasures are given,

His love, His grace, to us, never hidden.

Oh Colossians, heed this message, let it ring true,

For it's for all, the world not only for you.

This mystery is Christ in us, the hope of glory,

We proclaim Him to all, that's our story.

Communications of faith, in parchment letter.

Rejoice in the Lord, he did implore,

In every circumstance, forevermore.

Seen in Philippians 4:4, so clear,

A call to joy, let no one fear.

Christ, our example, in humility,

In Philippians 2, for all to see.

He became a servant, of no reputation,

A beacon of hope, for all creation.

In chapter 3, verse 14, we find,

A call to press on, leaving past behind.

Toward the goal, for the prize so high,

A heavenly call, in Christ, we rely.

God shall supply all our needs, he wrote,

In Philippians 4:19, a promise of note,

According to His riches, so great,

In glory by Christ Jesus, we await.

Work out your salvation, with fear and trembling,

For it is God who works in you, resembling.

Philippians, a letter of love and grace,

In every word, God's mercy we trace.

A timeless message, of faith so strong,

In Christ alone, we forever belong.

In the spirit of love, as Paul did write,

In the 2nd Corinthians, his words are right.

We stand not crushed, In affliction's air 

Often Perplexed, yet not in despair.

Paul tells us true and straight

We are to love and not to hate

We are vessels of clay, fragile and weak,

Yet, in us, God's power does brightly leak.

For our light affliction, brief as a sigh,

Works an eternal weight in glory, oh so high.

We fix our gaze not on what is seen,

But on the unseen, where true life we glean.

A new creation, reborn, In Christ, today

 No more to worry, Old things passed away

Ambassadors of Christ, His plea we share,

Be reconciled to God, in His love and care.

God loves the ones, who cheerfully do give,

 In bounty on this earth, they are sure to live.

His grace is sufficient, in him we are strong,

In Christ alone, we truly belong.

So let's stand firm in faith, hope, and love,

Guided by God's light from above.

In ancient Rome, a letter was penned,

By the Apostle Paul, of the faithful men.

In God's grace, we find a cure.

Salvation's gift, for all who believe,

Through Jesus Christ, we receive.

In Romans 1:16, Paul's refrain,

In the gospel, there is no shame.

For it's God's power, for salvation,

To everyone, in every nation.

Chapter five, verse eight makes things clear,

that God's love for us, is so sincere.

Christ died for us, our sins erased,

In this truth, faith takes their place.

Hate what's evil, cling to good,

Live in harmony, as we should.

In Romans 8:28, we find,

God works for good, in all mankind.

For those who love Him, through His grace,

Find purpose in each and every place.

In Romans 10, verse 9 we read,

Confess, believe, in this we plead.

Jesus is Lord, raised from the dead,

By this faith, are we led.

Romans, a book of faith and love,

Guiding us to the Father above.

Its teachings pure, its wisdom vast,

In our hearts, may it be cast.

In the book of Matthew it starts, a tale so divine,

A lineage of grace, in Bethlehem it aligns.

Jesus, the son of Mary and God himself as well,

A story of salvation, a story we must tell.

The Sermon on the Mount, as the blessed gather 'round,

The meek, the merciful, in His love they are found.

"Seek ye first the kingdom," in Matthew six verse thirty-three,

In the heart of God's will, is where we're meant to be.

Walking on the water, calming the stormy sea,

Matthew eight, verse twenty-seven, shows His authority.

With faith as small as mustard seed, mountains we shall move,

Matthew seventeen, verse twenty, this truth behooves.

The greatest commandment, in Matthew twenty-two, verse thirty-eight,

"Love the Lord thy God," with all thy heart do not hesitate.

And the second is akin, "Love thy neighbor as thyself,"

In these two commandments, all the law and prophets dwell.

In Matthew twenty-eight, a commission so profound,

Go, make disciples of all nations, let His grace abound.

Baptizing in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,

Teaching them to observe His words, in His love we boast.

His resurrection power, His victory over the grave,

In Matthew's final chapter, we find that we are saved.

If you often find yourself overwhelmed, overcommitted, or drained, it might be time to rethink your boundaries and embrace the transformative power of no.

Why Saying No Is Hard

From a young age, many of us are conditioned to seek approval, avoid conflict, and be helpful—even at the expense of our well-being. We say yes to things we don't want to do, not out of enthusiasm, but from guilt, obligation, or fear of disappointing others. This people-pleasing reflex can erode our personal boundaries, leaving us stretched thin and resentful.

But here's the truth: every yes is a trade-off. When you say yes to something that doesn’t align with your goals or values, you’re saying no to something else that might be more important—like rest, personal growth, meaningful work, or quality time with loved ones.

The Benefits of Saying No

Learning to say no is not about being selfish or unkind. It’s about:

• Protecting your time so you can focus on what truly matters.

• Preserving your energy for the people and tasks that deserve it.

• Safeguarding your assets—whether that’s your money, knowledge, emotional bandwidth, or physical health.

When you say no with intention and clarity, you create space for your priorities, peace of mind, and personal growth.

How to Start Saying No

Here are practical steps to help you build the muscle of saying no—with confidence and grace.

1. Get Clear on Your Priorities

When you're clear about what matters most, it becomes easier to recognize distractions. Make a list of your top goals, commitments, and non-negotiables. Use this list as a filter for every new request.

Ask yourself: Does this align with my priorities? If not, it’s a no.

2. Buy Yourself Time

You don’t have to give an immediate answer. When you’re unsure, say:
"Let me check my schedule and get back to you."
This gives you breathing room to evaluate the request without pressure.

3. Be Direct, Not Defensive

You don’t owe anyone a long explanation. A simple, respectful no is enough:

• “Thanks for thinking of me, but I can’t commit to that right now.”

• “I’m focusing on other priorities at the moment.”

You can be firm and kind at the same time.

4. Set Boundaries and Stick to Them

Boundaries are not walls—they’re guidelines for how others can engage with you. Communicate your limits clearly, and don’t backtrack just to avoid discomfort.

Example: If you don’t answer work emails after 7 PM, make that known and follow through.

5. Practice Self-Compassion

Saying no can trigger guilt, especially at first. Remember: every no to others is a yes to yourself. Honor your limits, even when it’s hard. Over time, the discomfort fades and is replaced by empowerment.

Beneath the sun, in God's own time,

The book of Ecclesiastes chimes,

A tale of life, a quest for meaning,

In wisdom's light, ever gleaming.

"Vanity of vanities," the Preacher cries,

"All is vanity," his solemn sigh,

In wisdom, madness, folly, and pleasure,

He sought for good, for lasting treasure.

Yet all he found was but a haze,

Chasing the wind, in an endless maze,

Riches, honor, all under the sun,

all these are shadows, when the day is done.

The wise, the fool, the sinner, the just,

All return to earth, all return to dust,

Life's fleeting breath, a passing sigh,

A tale that's told, beneath the sky.

Yet in the heart, God planted eternity,

A longing for truth, for divine certainty,

Fear God, keep His commands, the Preacher implores,

For this is man's all, and forevermore.

In every season, a time and place,

In God's own hands, held by grace,

Our life, our death, our love, our hate,

In His perfect time, He orchestrates.

So eat, drink, find joy in your toil,

For life is fleeting, like vapor or oil,

Fear God, follow His ways,

And find meaning in all your days.

For God will bring every work into judgment,

Every hidden thing, good bad or punishment,

So live in reverence, in awe, and in love,

And look for your reward from the One above.

A gentle answer turns away wrath,

We all have those good habits we want to build—like stretching in the morning, drinking more water, or meditating daily—but turning intention into action often feels like pushing a boulder uphill.

Fortunately, there’s a strategy that can make this process smoother and more automatic: habit chaining.

What Is Habit Chaining?

Habit chaining is a simple yet powerful method where you link a new habit to an existing one

. The idea is that by “chaining” a desired behavior to something you already do consistently, the established habit acts as a trigger for the new one.

Think of it like a train: your current habit is the engine that's already on the tracks. You're just adding a new car (habit) to the end of it.

This technique works so well because it leverages something you already do on autopilot.

No need to reinvent your schedule or summon a ton of motivation—you’re just adding a small, intentional tweak to something that’s already happening.

Examples of Habit Chaining in Action

Here are a few real-world examples:

• After I brush my teeth, I’ll floss one tooth.
  (Yes, just one. The point is to start small; you’ll usually end up flossing them all.)

• After I pour my morning coffee, I’ll take 3 deep breaths.
  Builds mindfulness without needing a 10-minute meditation session.

• After I hang up my coat when I get home, I’ll drink a glass of water.
  Easy hydration boost as soon as you walk in the door.

• After I turn off my work laptop, I’ll write down one win from the day.
  Reinforces a positive mindset and keeps gratitude top-of-mind.

Why It Works

Habit chaining succeeds because it piggybacks on cue-based behavior.

Most habits are triggered by something—a time of day, a location, an emotion,

or an action. When you add your new habit immediately after a well-established one, it becomes part of the same loop.

You don’t need extra motivation or a new reminder system. The old habit becomes the prompt for the new one.

How to Create Your Own Habit Chain

1. Identify an anchor habit
   Choose something you already do daily and reliably. Brushing your teeth, making coffee, checking email, feeding your pet, etc.

2. Choose a small, specific new habit
   Keep it easy and clear. The goal is to build consistency, not perfection.

3. Use the formula:
   After I [current habit], I will [new habit].
   Example: “After I set my alarm at night, I’ll read one page of a book.”

4. Start tiny, then build
   Begin with the smallest possible version of your habit. Once it feels automatic, you can expand it naturally.

Final Thoughts

Habit chaining is a great tool if you’re looking to grow your routines without overwhelming your schedule.

By linking a new action to something you already do, you reduce the friction of starting and lay the groundwork for long-term consistency.

Start small. Be consistent. And watch how those tiny links turn into a powerful chain of positive change.

If you are working in affiliate marketing there are any number of things that can be chained

But one example might be to do one group safelist emails right after morning prayers.

Or maybe choose a specific site that you run ads on to work it after your morning shower.

A few times of this and it will become habit,  when you get out of the shower  you will automatically do those ads.

Once upon a time, a successful Wall Street executive named Richard Hayes built a powerful investment firm from the ground up.

He was sharp, relentless, and had a nose for opportunity. But as he grew older, he became increasingly concerned—not about his business, but about his three sons.

Though each son had talent—Nathan was analytical, Derek was bold, and Simon was creative—they were constantly at odds.

Petty arguments, one-upmanship, and mistrust clouded their relationship. Richard worried that if they couldn’t learn to cooperate, the family legacy he had worked so hard to build would eventually crumble.

One day, sensing that his time was drawing near, Richard called his sons into his office overlooking the Manhattan skyline.

On his polished desk lay a thick folder of documents.

“Boys,” he said, “this is the firm's future. Inside this folder is the key to taking it beyond anything I ever imagined.”

Their eyes lit up, each assuming he was about to be handed control.

“But,” Richard continued, “there's a catch. You can only open this folder once the three of you have completed a joint project—together. No shortcuts, no solo acts.”

“What kind of project?” Nathan asked, suspicious.

“Something real. Something that uses each of your strengths. It doesn't need to be profitable, just cooperative. You’ll know when you’ve done it right.”

Reluctantly, the brothers agreed. The first few weeks were rough—emails ignored, meetings missed, arguments flaring up.

But slowly, they began to communicate. Nathan’s data helped Derek find better deals. Simon’s ideas reshaped their approach. They started to listen. Trust grew.

After three months, they launched a new financial literacy initiative for underserved communities. It wasn’t flashy, but it was effective—and it was theirs, built from mutual respect.

When they returned to their father with their work, Richard simply smiled and handed over the folder.

Inside, there were no financial plans. Just a note that read

Oh, the beauty of the Psalms, pure and divine,

In the book of Kings we find a tale,

 

Of Elisha, God's prophet, on a trail.

 

Walking on the road to Bethel one day,

 

He encountered some boys who started to play.

 

With mischief in their eyes, they jeered and scorned,

 

Go away, thou bald head, they wickedly warned.

 

Their insults and mockery, he did not deserve.

 

Elisha turned back, his spirit stirred,

 

He cursed them in the LORD's mighty name.

 

And then from the woods, Two she-bears came 

 

The beasts appeared , fierce and wild,

 

They tore forty-two boys ,the scene beguiled!

 

A grim story, from the sacred text,

 

Leaves us pondering, confused and perplexed.

 

This tale serves as a solemn reminder,

 

To respect God's servants, and always be kinder .

 

For God defends His own, with righteous might,

 

His justice prevails, even in the darkest night.

 

So always remember we are saved by Grace

 

Strive for respect and remember our place

 

The Lord GOD almighty has a powerful wrath

 

If we mock or taunt there might be bears on our path

While God's holy people, under Persia's reign,

A scribe named Ezra, to his people came

To return to Jerusalem, his cherished land,

With a sacred mission, from the King's own hand.

With the King's letter safe, in his satchel tight,

Ezra journeyed on, in God's guiding light.

He was a learned man, in the Laws of Moses,

To teach his people, he knew what king proposes.

In the midst of ruins, and hearts filled with strife,

Ezra shared God's word, breathed back to life.

He read aloud, from the Book so revered,

The people they wept, as the LORD they feared.

"Repent," cried Ezra, "for you have strayed,

In foreign marriages, your heritage betrayed."

With heavy hearts, they sought God's grace,

Promised to follow His ways, in every case.

The walls of Jerusalem, they did restore,

In their hearts, God's laws they bore.

A new beginning, in this holy place,

Led by Ezra, saved by God's grace.

Through Ezra, we learn, in God's law, we should immerse,

His love and guidance, in our lives, we should disperse.

In the Book of Ezra, lessons are real,

For a God-centered life. that is the deal

Let go of the guilt, frustration, or self-doubt. Instead, shift your perspective: This is a plot twist, not a dead end. Give yourself grace. Growth doesn’t always look pretty, but it’s always powerful.

3. Revamp the Plan

What needs to change? Maybe it's your approach, maybe your environment, maybe your goals themselves. Start small—reorganize your space, update your routines, set fresh intentions. New energy flows where there's room for it.

4. Take Inspired Action

Now that you're grounded and realigned, move forward with intention. Not in a frantic way, but with clarity and confidence. Even one step in the right direction is progress.

In the book of Second Kings, a tale unfolds,

Of prophets, kings, and stories so bold.

A narrative of power, faith, and might,

In the darkness, it's a guiding light.

Elijah taken up to the sky,

In a fiery chariot, rising high.

Elisha watches with awe-struck gaze,

His master vanishing in such a blaze.

A double portion of Elijah's spirit he receives,

In the power of God most high, he believes.

Miracles he performs in God's name,

Echoing Elijah's holy fame.

Kings rise and fall, wars are fought,

Lessons of faith and humility are taught.

Idols are worshiped, God's commands defied,

Yet, His mercy and love are never denied.

In the reign of Hezekiah, we find,

A king who was righteous and very kind.

Praying to God in his awful distress,

His kingdom, the Lord God did bless.

Yet, the wickedness of Manasseh was great,

Leading Judah down, to a disastrous fate.

Despite repentance in his later life,

His earlier sins caused much strife.

Due to him, the city of Jerusalem fell,

Under Babylonian rule, they came to dwell.

Yet, in the midst of despair and strife,

He repented and asked GOD for his life.

God listened and granted his prayers you see

For he is the same GOD for you and for me

Second Kings teaches us about God's grace,

His love for the human race.

Despite our sins, if we repent,

His forgiveness is never spent.

In Chronicles First, of old times we tell,

Of Israel's journey, and where they fell.

From Adam to David, a lineage divine,

God's chosen people, throughout all time.

The tribes of Israel, their numbers vast,

In God's great plan, each one was cast.

In battles and victories, in loss and in gain,

Through joy and sorrow, and so much pain.

David, the shepherd, the king so brave,

With a heart for God, his soul to save.

He danced with joy before the Ark,

His love for God, a flame in the dark.

A king, a warrior, a psalmist too,

God's will and purpose in him grew.

Despite his flaws, his sins, and strife,

David loved God, all his life.

The Levites too, with their roles assigned,

In temple service, their lives intertwined.

Musicians, gatekeepers, and priests among,

To the Lord, their praises they happily sung.

Through Chronicles First, we trace the path,

Of God's redemptive love, and His great wrath.

A testament to His sovereign reign,

In every joy, in every pain.

Remember well, dear friend, this truth,

From age to age, from elder to youth.

God's love endures, His promises sure,

In His salvation, we are secure.
